Essential Skills Training

 

‘Essential Training’ is the term used to describe training which Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust must provide by regulation and statute (formerly known as statutory and mandatory training).

Included within the full portfolio of Essential Training are some 25 courses, ranging from fire safety, health and safety, basic life support, infection prevention and control, and medicines administration, to prevention and management of violence, and information governance.

Although Essential Training applies to all staff the requirement to undertake particular elements and ‘refresher’ courses varies between staff groups. For more information see sections below.
